We are passionate about the transformative power of speech and debate. Our mission is to ignite critical thinking and foster communication skills in students, empowering them to confidently express their ideas and succeed in competitive events. Our youth programs are designed to help students develop their abilities in debate, offering a supportive and engaging environment for personal growth and academic achievement. We are currently expanding our team and seeking experienced and enthusiastic coaches for our Lincoln Douglas (LD) and Public Forum (PF) debate teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum and lesson plans for both Novice and Varsity Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum teams.
Deliver 30-40-minute lectures on content followed by drills focused on skill development such as cross-examination, rebuttals, research, argumentation, and efficiency.
Design and introduce drills aimed at improving specific debate skills, such as research assignments, content creation, and unique argumentation strategies.
Assign homework and prepare students for tournaments by scheduling extra practice sessions (which can be held online).
Lead discussions on topic analysis and guide students through generating strong affirm and neg contentions.
Collaborate with other LD coaches to ensure consistency in the curriculum across all classes.
Mentor and guide students to develop expert-level debate strategies, helping them compete at the highest levels of competition.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree (or in progress toward completion).
Prior experience coaching or competing in Lincoln Douglas (LD) and Public Forum (PF) debates, with notable success at the TOC, NSDA, or other top national circuit debate levels.
Strong understanding of advanced debate strategies and a commitment to helping students excel.
Ability to teach both in-person and remotely (with online options available).
Flexibility to work once a week during evening hours, with a commitment to a 15-week program (approximately 30-35 hours each semester, including classes and additional support).
