Lab Assistant

Location: Pasadena, CA 91105

Pay Rate: $24.50/hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (slight flexibility possible)

Job Type: 6-Month W-2 Assignment (potential to extend / convert)

Position Overview:

Our client, a leading private university in Los Angeles, CA, we are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join their team at the Endocrine Lab in Pasadena. This role is central to the operation of the lab and offers exposure to both clinical lab processing and administrative functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior experience in a laboratory or medical office setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Specimen Processing

• Receive blood samples via mail, FedEx, courier, etc.
• Assign unique ID barcodes and prep samples for testing
• Use a centrifuge to separate serum from blood
• Ensure paperwork accuracy and completeness
• Troubleshoot sample and documentation issues
• Maintain excellent customer service when interacting with outside labs, medical centers, and offices
• Attention to detail is critical – accuracy directly impacts lab credibility

2. Office Support

• Prepare and verify patient records and past sheets
• Assist with data entry and billing documentation
• Distribute patient reports via fax, email, or mail
• Perform various clerical and administrative tasks as needed

3. General Lab Duties

• Organize, archive, and retrieve samples from storage
• Monitor and log freezer temperatures
• Perform basic instrument maintenance and inventory checks

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a lab or medical office environment preferred
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• High level of professionalism and accountability
• Bachelor’s degree not required (HS Diploma is required)
