Job Description

ROLE
We are seeking a part-time Computer/IT Support Specialist to support the 21st Force Support Squadron (21 FSS), Education and Training Center at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado. You will provide on-site technical support across multiple buildings, maintaining hardware, software, and network systems while ensuring compliance with Air Force cybersecurity and operational standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer hardware and software systems across 200 computers, 2–4 servers, and related peripherals
  • Update the education center website, SharePoint, and social media accounts weekly
  • Refresh links, build new pages, and manage layout changes as requested
  • Apply Department of the Air Force (DAF) mandated software updates to education and training systems
  • Install new computers and associated information systems within three duty days of receipt
  • Recommend biannual network architecture improvements based on direction
  • Design procedures to safeguard and track commercial Information Technology (IT) infrastructure
  • Ensure redundancy in the commercial network to support uninterrupted user access
  • Service the Lorex camera security system and resolve malfunctions within three workdays
  • Build a tracking system with lifecycle documentation for servers and network components
  • Map facility layouts and populate a database for tracking IT infrastructure issues
  • Research annual technology purchases using the established tracking database
  • Diagnose system malfunctions within 24 hours and deliver corrective solutions
  • Liaise with the 21st Force Support Squadron IT office on escalated technical matters
  • Fulfill critical support requests for education center systems within five duty days
  • Configure and operate audio, video, and computer systems in designated meeting spaces
  • Assist the Equipment Custodian twice annually with Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO) processing
  • Transport equipment between the Education Center and DRMO for disposal or transfer
  • Document inventory changes and remove equipment marked for turn-in
  • Maintain a continuity binder covering daily IT operations, troubleshooting steps, and system tracking

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of Windows-based system administration across desktops, servers, and peripherals
  • Skill in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Ability to implement mandated software updates and configure new IT equipment
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity requirements and IT certification standards
  • Experience supporting SharePoint, websites, and basic content management functions
  • Ability to operate and support audiovisual systems in classrooms and meeting spaces
  • Competence in documenting IT operations, troubleshooting steps, and asset tracking
  • Capacity to respond to technical issues within 24 hours and communicate resolutions clearly
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 25 pounds and navigate multiple buildings independently
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of one year of recent, hands-on experience supporting both hardware and software in an IT environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • At least one DoD-approved information assurance certification (aligned with DoDM 8140.03) such as
  • A+, Network+
  • Security+, CND, GFACT, GSEC
  • CISA, GICSP, FITSP-O, SSCP, CCNP Security, SecurityX/CASP+
  • A completed bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
  • Cybersecurity
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Data Science
  • Software Engineering

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
